The fate of a 4 cm fresh diaphyseal cortical allograft, placed in the femur of a dog, is documented by microradiogram, microangiogram and correlated histology, eight years after implantation. Transplanted bone remained. The graft had not vascularized, it remained acellular, active resorption was not evident and new bone had been deposited directly on the transplanted bone.
