Die Pathophysiologie der zentralen Schlafapnoe (CSA) unterscheidet sich erheblich von der der obstruktiven Schlafapnoe (OSA). Im Gegensatz zur OSA kommt es bei der CSA zu zentral bedingten Atemaussetzern ohne eine entsprechende kompensatorische Atemanstrengung in Reaktion darauf (1,2).
