Abstract The aim of our study is to compare the results of tympanometry and ETF-test with the ability of subjects (with and without diving experience) to compensate for the change in ambient pressure in a hyperbaric chamber (HBK). From the group of persons with disabilities in compensation, we separated a subgroup of persons with unilateral disabilities, in whom it is highly likely to exclude an incorrect pressure equalization technique. We believe that successfully compensating for changes in pressure have adequate patency of the Eustachian tubes, so the results can be interpolated in daily clinical practice.

Results We observed a statistically significant correlation between the unilateral troubles in barotest and the ETF-test results. This shows that the ETF test could be used as a diagnostic tool of Eustachian passibility.

Key words ETF test, Eustachian tube passability, Hyperbaric chamber(HBC),
