Endoscopy
The technological advancements in the field of flexible endoscopy have allowed the endoscopist to perform more complex procedures with excellent outcomes and limited invasiveness. The current boundaries of what can be performed via an endoscope continue to be pushed further and is only limited by a physician's imagination. In this issue of Digestive Disease Interventions, we explore the edges of these boundaries and hope to offer a glimpse into the future of flexible endoscopy. We have invited world-renowned experts to provide their view on the current and future state of flexible endoscopy technologies and procedures. We began with a discussion of the more advanced endoscopic monitoring and tissue procurement devices. Readers will then be provided several articles focused on the endoscopic managements of both chronic and acute complications of surgical procedures such as enterocutaneous fistulas and bariatric complications. Finally, endoscopic managements of pathologies such as gastroparesis, achalasia, and gastroesophageal reflux disease will be explored. This issue of Digestive Disease Interventions will provide an excellent overview and reference for any physician interested in the more advanced techniques in flexible endoscopy.
