Joaquín Cubiella et al. Incidence of advanced neoplasia during surveillance in high- and intermediate-risk groups of the European colorectal cancer screening guidelines
This retrospective analysis of 5401 patients who underwent removal of adenomas meeting intermediate- or high-risk criteria showed only a small difference in risk for subsequent neoplasia between these two risk groups. The incidence of advanced neoplasia after a median of 3.1 years was 12.3 % (intermediate-risk group) and 16.0 % (high-risk group), respectively; however, the study was not powered to evaluate cancer risk.
