Miniaturisierte und raumflugtaugliche Analyse- und Monitoringsysteme
Instrumentelle Analytik zum Monitoring von Crew und HabitatCrew and Habitat Monitoring during Exploration Class MissionsPublication History
Publication Date:

The high autonomy and duration of exploration class missions place special and highest requirement on the medical monitoring of the crew and the habitat. In addition to the monitoring of medical parameters and drug monitoring, microbiological or physico-chemical toxins in the habitat should also be recorded. The use of mass spectrometers has a long history in space flight and exploration and is clearly superior to other analytical methods applied in clinical chemistry in terms of specificity and reliability. Mass spectrometry enables the analysis of a wide range of substances that are essential for medical monitoring during exploration class missions: comprehensive metabolic monitoring, including functional tests of individual organ systems, detection of infections (respiratory gas analysis), drug monitoring, steroid hormone analysis and the analysis of organic substances for monitoring the habit environment.
