Sie stellt eine gefürchtete Komplikation nach Kataraktoperationen dar, die zur Erblindung führen kann. Diagnostik und Therapie müssen dringlich eingeleitet werden. Trotz insgesamt eingeschränkter Prognose kann ein Visus von > 0,5 bei über der Hälfte der Patienten erreicht werden.
