Abstract
Background Nasal polyps are one of the most prevalent and significant clinical problems. No suitable therapy has been identified except surgical intervention, which is also associated with a high chance of recurrence.
Case This article reports two cases presented primarily with nasal polypus. The prescription of Teucrium marum varum was made specifically based on the location of the polyps. In the first case, there was prompt relief of the symptoms. But in the second case, non-individualised specific application of the remedy could not relieve the patient of his symptoms. Relief was obtained by giving medicines based on the indicated characteristic symptom. Both the cases were followed up for an additional 6 months following the total disappearance of symptoms to rule out any recurrence.
Conclusion Specific remedies act very conditionally depending on the presenting characteristics and peculiarities of the case. Therefore, depending solely on the specific medicines for any disease condition is not advised. Causal attribution cannot be drawn from case reports but shows a direction for consideration of homoeopathic specifics in such cases. Adequately controlled trials with rigorous methodology are required to prove the efficacy beyond doubt.
