In Deutschland erkranken jährlich etwa 70 000 Frauen neu an Brustkrebs [2]. Onkologische Operationen der Mamma sind deshalb von großer Bedeutung. Das ästhetische Ergebnis spielt für die Patientinnen eine große Rolle. Es gilt aber, das Spannungsfeld zwischen onkologischer Sicherheit und maximal möglicher Lebensqualität für die Patientin zu gewährleisten. Dieser Beitrag klärt über die Risiken der verschiedenen Operationen an der weiblichen Brust auf.
