Zusammenfassung

Die notfallmedizinische Ausbildung der jungen Assistenzärzte und Notärzte ist nach wie vor sehr unterschiedlich und zumeist abhängig von Hierarchien und Leistungsspektren der Ausbildungsklinik. Dabei kommt die Praxis oft zu kurz. Standardisierte und eintrainierte Untersuchungs- und Behandlungsabläufe sind eher die Ausnahme. Am Notfallzentrum des Inselsspitales in Bern wird ein alternativer Weg beschritten, um die Selbständigkeit der Kollegen zu stärken und das notfallmedizinische Spektrum zu erweitern: Der Auslandseinsatz im sozialen Brennpunkt Südafrikas.

Abstract

Training in Emergency Medicine has still a lot of different faces and depends mainly on unit hierarchies and hospital facilities. At the emergency unit of the Inselspital in Bern unusual concepts of training in Emergency Medicine have been supported in order to enforce the self confidence of young physicians dealing with injured or critically ill patients, offering them a training period at the social hot spots of South Africa.
