A microwave-assisted, rapid solid phase peptide synthesis procedure
is presented. It has been applied to the coupling of sterically
hindered Fmoc-protected amino acids yielding di- and tripeptides.
Optimized conditions for a variety of coupling reagents are reported.
Peptides were obtained rapidly (1.5-20 min) and without
racemization.
