Hintergrund und Notwendigkeit einer Langzeittherapie schizophrener Erkrankungen sowie der gegenwärtige Stand der Erkenntnis zur Pharmakotherapie wurden im ersten Teil dieses Beitrags dargestellt. Im Folgenden werden psychotherapeutische Strategien in der Langzeittherapie, soziotherapeutische Maßnahmen sowie die Versorgungsstruktur in Deutschland aufgezeigt. Darüber hinaus findet der besondere Aspekt der Suizidalität sowie dessen Behandlung Berücksichtigung. Die Kernaussagen des ersten und zweiten Teils dieses Weiterbildungsartikels „Langzeittherapie der Schizophrenie” werden schließlich zusammengefasst und perspektivisch in die derzeitige Versorgungslage chronisch psychisch Kranker eingeordnet.
