Abstract
Acid-rich peptides are damaged under Fenton conditions to a greater extent than others as revealed by combinatorial screenings. The higher damage propensity is due to Fe-complexation that leads to the generation of radicals in close vicinity and thereby to the cleavage of the backbone of acid-rich peptides.
