Abstract
Background: Several behavioural voice treatment procedures have been suggested for unilateral vocal fold paresis. Here practical considerations of electro stimulation procedures are discussed. In contrast to behavioural therapy, electro stimulation therapy is performed in a home based procedure. Since this therapy procedure has proven to be at least equally efficient as behavioural therapy, it should be considered if behavioural therapy cannot be advised (e.g. if patients have to wait to long for an appointment with the therapist).
