Über den Gleichheitsmythos: Lesben und Schwule als Avantgarde emotionaler und sexueller Demokratisierung?

Übersicht:

Der Autor setzt sich kritisch mit der Auffassung auseinander, schwule und lesbische Partnerschafts- und Sexualformen seien - angesichts des Wegfalls auf Geschlechtlichkeit beruhender Machtdifferenzen - besonders egalitär. Modelle wie Giddens' Konzept der „reinen Beziehung”, das dem Autor für die Analyse heterosexueller Partnerschaften untauglich erscheint, würden auf Lesben und Schwule vor allem deshalb angewandt, weil deren Lebensweise darin nicht länger pathologisiert wird, sondern eine Art Vorreiterfunktion einnimmt. Erkauft werde dies jedoch durch eine verkürzte Machtanalyse, die durch ihre Konzentration auf Gender und Sexualität andere Formen der Diskriminierung in gleichgeschlechtlichen Beziehungen (aufgrund von Ethnizität, Klasse, Alter, Behinderung usw.) außer Acht lasse. Gestützt werde der Gleichheitsmythos vor allem durch das Enttraditionalisierungsparadigma, das in seinen unterschiedlichen Ausprägungen gegenwärtig eine einflussreiche Metatheorie in der europäischen Familien- und Beziehungssoziologie darstelle. Enttraditionalisierungstheorien folgten dabei einer dichotomen Rationalität, welche die Moderne mit „dem Westen”, Pluralismus und Toleranz assoziiere und Tradition mit ethnisierten Gruppe und Rückständigkeit.

1 Meine Kritik an bestimmten Darstellungen geschichtlicher Entwicklung ist nicht als Zurückweisung einer geschichtlich orientierten soziologischen Theoriebildung zu verstehen. Vielmehr bin ich davon überzeugt, dass bestimmte Modernisierungstheorien als geschichtliche Meta-Narrative durch die Verknüpfung abstrakter und generalisierter Konzepte Kausalität konstruieren. Wenn solche theoretischen Annahmen in bestimmten Forschungskontexten als Erklärungsmodelle herangezogen werden, dann werden diese Konzepte oft als selbstverständlich akzeptiert und nicht neu auf ihre Plausibilität hin überprüft (vgl. Somers und Gibson 1994).

2 Ich verwende den Begriff „Rassialisierung” als eine Übersetzung des englischsprachigen Konzeptes racialisation (Miles 1993; Brah 1996). Im anglophonen wissenschaftlichen Diskurs ist der Begriff race anders als im deutschsprachigen nicht eindeutig biologistisch konnotiert. Da Race nicht als eine Wahrheit über den Körper, sondern als in gesellschaftlichen Machtbeziehungen produziert verstanden wird (was gerade in dem Begriff racialisation zum Ausdruck kommt), wird die Wirkmächtigkeit dieses Konzeptes in sozialen Beziehungen nicht so häufig geleugnet wie im deutschen Kontext (vgl. Gilroy 2000).

4 Zygmunt Bauman definiert die Postmoderne als eine „Moderne, die sich selbst kritisch reflektiert” (1989, 1993). Anthony Giddens spricht von der „Hochmoderne”, der „Spätmoderne” oder der „posttraditionalen Moderne” (1991, 1995). Ulrich Beck hat sich die Begriffe der „reflexiven Moderne” oder der „zweiten Moderne” zu Eigen gemacht (Beck 1986, 1993; Beck und Beck-Gernsheim 2002; Beck und Bonß 2001). Insbesondere das Konzept der Postmoderne ist bei den meisten AutorInnen jedoch umstritten (vgl. Kumar 1995).
