Zusammenfassung
Trotz aller diagnostischer Bemühungen werden 40 bis fast 50 % der Polyneuropathien, die nicht auf einen Diabetes mellitus oder einen übermäßigen Alkoholkonsum zurückgeführt werden, bisher nicht ätiologisch zugeordnet. Voraussetzung für eine rationale Diagnostik sind eine sorgsame Anamneseerhebung und klinische Untersuchung sowie eine neurophysiologische Klassifikation der Polyneuropathie mit anschließender gezielter weiterer paraklinischer Diagnostik. Sollte diese nicht zum Erfolg führten, kann eine Verlaufsuntersuchung zumindest bei prozesshaften Erkrankungen noch zum Ergebnis führen.
Abstract
In spite of intensive diagnostic work-up about 40 to 50 % of all polyneuropathies that cannot be attributed to diabetes mellitus of an excessive alcohol consumption cannot yet be classified aetiologically. Prerequisites for a rational diagnosis are a comprehensive case history, clinical examination, and a neurophysiological classification of the polyneuropathy with subsequent, targetted paraclinical diagnostics. If this is not successful, observation of the clinical course, at least in progressive disease, may lead to success.
