Die Lasertrabekuloplastik bewährt sich immer mehr als wertvolle Alternative zu den üblichen fistulisierenden Eingriffen bei der Behandlung des Offenwinkelglaukoms. Der mittlere Druckabfall bei 104 nach Argonlasertrabekuloplastik zwischen 1-12 Monaten nachkontrollierten Augen beträgt 7,6 mm Hg. 90 Augen weisen eine normale Tension auf, die Hälfte davon allerdings mit unveränderter medikamentöser Therapie. Darunter wurden 22 Augen bis 18-24 Monaten kontrolliert. Der mittlere Druckabfall beträgt hier 6,2 mm Hg, ohne Wiederanstieg in der Spätphase. Eine Kurzzeitstudie (6-8 Wochen) zum Vergleich von Argon und YAG zeigt etwas bessere Resultate nach Argonlasertrabekuloplastik.

Summary

Laser trabeculoplasty has proved to be a valuable alternative to customary surgical techniques in the treatment of open-angle glaucoma. The average decrease in intraocular pressure in 104 eyes treated with argon and with 1-12 months follow-up was 7.6 mm Hg. Pressure is normal in 90 eyes, though in half of them with unchanged medical therapy. In 22 eyes followed up for 18-24 months the average decrease in pressure is 6.2 mm Hg, with no tendency to a late new rise. A comparative study of argon and YAG-laser with 6-8 weeks follow-up shows slightly better results in the group treated with argon.
