Abstract

The transcutane epicardial approach for the HFS-ablation of ventricular tachycardias (VT) was introduced in 1996 by E. Sosa. It is a promising approach for a three dimensional substrate, if the endocardial approach fails or is impossible. The success rate ranges between 39 and 80 %, if the endocardial approach has failed. The complication rate has been reported to be between 0 and 9.5 % and is dependent on the individual patient and the physician's experience.
