Novel Minimally Invasive Ultrasound-Guided Cubital Tunnel Release: Extending the Scope?
Neuartige minimalinvasive ultraschallgeführte Kubitaltunnel-Spaltung: Erweiterung der Möglichkeiten?Introduction
Cubital tunnel syndrome (CUTS) is the second most frequent compression syndrome caused by focal compression of the ulnar nerve (UN) at the level of the Osborne’s ligament (OL) [Omejec G et al. Clin Neurophysiol. 2016; 127: 919–924]. As Omejec et al. defined, focal compression at that level is usually the only and exclusive indication for cubital tunnel surgery. The subcutaneous position of the UN renders it attractive for minimally invasive procedures. Petrover et al. [Petrover D et al. Cardiovasc Intervent Radiol 2017; 40: 568–575] defined an ultrasound-guided percutaneous approach for carpal tunnel release using a hook knife. With this case, we present a novel procedure for cubital tunnel release using high-resolution ultrasound (HRUS) as a variant based on this validated data.
