Idiopathic dilatation of the right atrium (IDRA) is an uncommon cardiac abnormality that consists of a disproportionally enlarged right atrium in the absence of any other anatomical pathology of the heart. It is generally diagnosed in adults, although IDRA can be found throughout all stages of prenatal and postnatal life. To date, only few cases have been diagnosed in utero, mainly after 30 weeks of gestation (Reinhardt-Owlya L et al. Arch Mal Coeur Vaiss 1998; 91: 645 – 649). Here, we present a case of IDRA suspected in utero at 24 weeks of gestation and confirmed after birth and review the literature on this condition.
