Unexpected Formation of Tetramethylguanidines by Reaction of Dimethylformamide with Fmoc-Protected Aminoamides

Abstract

Reactions of primary amines with Fmoc-protected amino acids or Fmoc deprotection of the resulting products in N,N-di­methylformamide gave tetramethylguanidines in variable yields as unexpected by-products.
