Significance
This work discloses a new repetitive one-step method for the synthesis of multi-substituted oligoarenes. Boronic acids with a chloro or trifluoromethanesulfonyloxy group were used as monomer precursors. These were applied in an alternating fashion to elongate the oligoarene chain by one benzene unit in each step.
