Abstract

The reaction of alkoxymethylenemalononitrile with dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates (DAAD) and cyclohexylisocyanide results in a three-component condensation reaction in which the alkoxymethylenemalononitrile group acts as a dipolarophile, producing highly functionalized iminocyclopentenes under mild conditions in high yields.
