Abstract

Malaria is a worldwide health problem. Fortunately, there are treatments for the disease, and measures including antimalarials that significantly reduce the risk of acquiring malaria. Unfortunately, nearly all of the available preventatives have potential serious medical and psychiatric consequences, and should be considered as a cause of disturbed behavior in patients who have traveled to countries where malaria is prevalent.
