Foreword
Publication History
Publication Date:
17 December 2014 (online)
Dear colleagues and friends,
As we are launching this new issue of Endoscopy International Open and as we are celebrating the first year of publication, we can say that we are really proud of the development of our young journal during the first 12 months. Thanks to the authors, the editorial team and the technical secretariat, we succeeded to exceed our goals. Initially, we planned to publish 3 to 4 original articles per issue, and this issue now contains 8 of them. The partnership with the journal Endoscopy is working perfectly, but we also observe more and more direct submissions to the journal. Between December 2013 and October 2014, 157 manuscripts, including 120 original manuscripts and 19 case reports, were submitted.
Endoscopy International Open is a scientific journal offering rigorous peer-review of the papers and one to four rounds of revision per paper. The goal is to find and to emphasize within a manuscript the medical matter which will interest our readership without sacrificing scientific quality. A certain degree of flexibility is required for this balanced exercise.
We are very happy that PubMed was fast to recognize (in 11 months only!) the need for such an open formula in endoscopy and the role of our journal (= to echo as fast as possible and on a world-wide basis relevant works and ideas including those from emerging countries or teams of young scientists). To be indexed in PubMed will contribute to increase our readership and to attract more papers from all continents.
Enjoy reading!
