Bisher war bekannt, das Zink unerlässlich für das normale Zellwachstum, die Proliferation und Regeneration ist und trockene Haut auf einen Zinkmangel hinweisen kann. Welche Rolle Zink bei der atopischen Dermatitis spielt, ist allerdings nicht eindeutig geklärt.
