Die chronisch entzündliche, genitale Hauterkrankung Lichen sclerosus kann destruktive Harnröhrenvernarbungen mit konsekutiver Striktur verursachen. US-amerikanische Ärzte haben die LS-Inzidenz bei isolierter bulbärer Harnröhrenstriktur histologisch nachuntersucht. Ihre Hypothese: Die Beteiligung von LS bei Harnröhrenstrikturen ist bisher unterschätzt worden.
