I want to thank my colleague Dr. Winocour for serving as a guest editor for this issue of Seminars in Plastic Surgery on “Update in Implant-Based Breast Reconstruction.” We also appreciate the efforts made by each outstanding author for contributing to this issue.
Dr. Winocour, MD, MSc, FACS, is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Plastic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. He also serves as the Director of Aesthetic Resident Training for the residency program.
He was born in Charleston, SC and grew up in Montreal, Canada. He received his MD from McGill University, Montreal, Canada and completed his Residency in General Surgery at McGill University, Montreal and Plastic Surgery at Mayo Clinic, Rochester. During his residency, he completed a Master of Science degree. He has also completed a Fellowship in Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX.
Dr. Winocour is a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in breast cancer reconstruction and aesthetic surgery. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Aesthetic Surgery, and American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery, and actively sits on multiple committees in these organizations. He has lectured extensively at national and international meetings and has authored over 40 abstracts and manuscripts in leading plastic surgery journals. His research interests focus on breast reconstruction, aesthetic surgery, and resident education.
