Zusammenfassung
Eine akute transverse Myelitis ist eine entzündlich bedingte Myelopathie, charakterisiert durch das rasche Auftreten bilateraler neurologischer Symptome. Es gibt jedoch eine Vielzahl von Differenzialdiagnosen, die sich klinisch nicht sicher abgrenzen lassen. Daher kommt der Bildgebung eine zentrale Rolle zu, um eine frühzeitige Therapie beginnen zu können. In dieser Übersichtsarbeit werden häufige Ursachen einer nicht traumatischen Myelopathie und ihre Korrelate in der Bildgebung dargestellt.
Abstract
Acute transverse Myelitis is an inflammatory myelopathy characterized by rapid onset of bilateral neurological symptoms. There is a vast array of differential diagnoses and the underlying pathology often cannot be identified on clinical examination alone. Therefore neuroimaging has a central role in narrowing the differential diagnosis. This review aims to provide a summary of common causes of non-traumatic myelopathies, many of which may have similar radiological appearance.
