„The disease … is of nature highly afflictive … whilst the unhappy sufferer has considered it as an evil, from the domination of which he had no prospect of escape“. Mit diesen einführenden Worten charakterisierte James Parkinson in dem vor genau 200 Jahren veröffentlichen „An Essay on the Shaking Palsy“ [1] die durch Charcot nach ihm benannte Erkrankung.
