Zusammenfassung
Geriatrische Typ 2 Dens axis Frakturen können erfolgreich operativ behandelt werden. Im Vergleich zur konservativen Therapie ist die knöcherne Heilungsrate bei operativer Therapie signifikant höher bei gleicher oder geringerer Mortalität. Weitere Vorteile für die chirurgische Therapie zeigen sich im klinischen Ergebnis und der Kosteneffizienz.
Abstract
Geriatric type 2 odontoid fractures can be treated successfully with surgery. In comparison to conservative therapy surgery leads to higher bony union rates and similar or even less mortality. Further advantages are evident concerning clinical outcome and cost effectiveness.
