Nickel(II) associated to pentamethyldiethylene triamine (PMDTA; 2,5,8-trimethyl-2,5,8-triazanonane) is the catalyst precursor for the fixation of CO2 into alkynes in electrolyses using a soluble magnesium anode. Unsaturated carboxylic acids are obtained with high regioselectivities.
