Substitution reactions of 4-sulfonyl-2-azetidinones with allyltrimethylsilane in the presence of a Lewis acid to give 4-allyl-2-azetidinones are reported. Furthermore, a study of the stereochemistry of substitution of 4-hetero-substituted 2-azetidinones with 1,2- and 1,3-disilyl-2-butenes in the presence of a Lewis acid is discussed.
