1,1′-Dinickelocenylferrocene (1) and nickelocenylferrocene (2) were synthesized from the corresponding ferrocenylcyclopentadienides [fec-(CP-)2 and fec-Cp-] and the monodecker cyclopentadienylnickel(1+) tetrafluoroborate. Reaction of fec-(CP-)2 with hexaamminenickel(II) chloride gave bis(fulvalene)ironnickel 3 which was found to be diamagnetic. Cyclic voltammetry reveals unexpected electrochemical properties of the new systems.
