Ethynylferrocene is a well-established1 and attractive synthon for the construction of oligonuclear organometallic systems2. Consequently, novel synthetic methods have been developed, but until recently all published routes require either multiple-step procedures or relatively expensive reagents, although they are of relevance for specific synthetic goals3.
