Vanadium complexes of (N)-hydroxy-[2.2]paracyclophane-4-carboxylic amides 3 are catalysts for the asymmetric epoxidation of allylic alcohols with tert-butyl hydroperoxide as terminal oxidant. Up to 71% ee have been obtained with 3 c bearing an adamantyl-substituent at the nitrogen of the hydroxamic ligand.
