Contralateral Breast Management in Breast Reconstruction
Publication History
Publication Date:
22 March 2002 (online)

ABSTRACT
The guidelines for contralateral breast management in breast reconstruction are not too dissimilar from those used in current mammaplasty. However, a judicious perception of the shape of the mammary gland, an analysis of its alterations, and a comparison of them with those of the reconstructed breast are necessary to choose a procedure that will achieve a symmetric, esthetically pleasing appearance. This article presents a technique that combines a number of existing procedures for breast lifting and reduction. It provides a sequence of steps that will help the reader handle reduction and lifting in breast surgery in a manner that will create a pleasing, long-term appearance.
