Abstract
Aim: To report a case of papillary renal cell carcinoma in a pediatric patient.
Method: A seven-year-old boy complained of hematuria for one year. CT scan showed a mass in the middle zone of the right kidney. Radical nephrectomy was performed without incident.
Result: Histology of the specimen showed papillary renal cell carcinoma. As the tumor was stage one, no chemotherapy was offered. At follow-up after 6 months the child was without recurrence or metastases.
Conclusions: Papillary renal cell carcinoma is an uncommon kidney tumor in children and in its early stages it can be cured by nephrectomy alone.

But: Rapporter le cas d'un carcinome papillaire rénal chez un enfant.
Méthode: Un garçon de 7 ans se plaignait d'hématurie depuis un an. Le scanner montrait une masse dans la partie moyenne du rein droit. Une néphrectomie radicale a été réalisée sans incident.
Résultat: L'histologie a montré un carcinome papillaire rénal. Comme la tumeur est de stade I, aucune chimiothérapie n'a été proposée. Après un recul de six mois, l'enfant est sans récidive ou métastase.
Conclusion: Le carcinome papillaire rénal est une tumeur rénale peu fréquente chez l'enfant et, dans ses premiers stades, peut être traité par une néphrectomie seule.
Resumen
Objetivo: Presentar un caso de carcinoma papilar renal en un niño.
Método: Paciente de siete años que consultó por hematuria desde 1 año antes. El TAC mostró una masa central en el riñón derecho. Se llevó a cabo una nefrectomía radical sin incidentes.
Resultado: La histología demostró que se trataba de un carcinoma papilar renal. Dado que el tumor era de estadio I no se aplicó quimiooterapia. A los 6 meses el niño está bien sin recidiva ni metástasis.
Conclusión: El carcinoma papilar renal es un tumor raro en niños y puede ser curado en sus estadios iniciales con cirugía solamente.
Zusammenfassung
In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird ein Fall eines papillären Nierenzellkarzinoms im Kindesalter vorgestellt.
Ein 7 Jahre alter Knabe klagte ein Jahr lang über Hämaturie. Die CT-Untersuchung zeigte einen Tumor im mittleren Bereich der rechten Niere. Es wurde eine radikale Nephrektomie durchgeführt. Postoperativ ergaben sich keine Besonderheiten. Das histologische Ergebnis ergab ein papilläres Nierenzellkarzinom. Da es sich um einen Tumor im Stadium I handelte, wurde keine Chemotherapie durchgeführt. Sechs Monate nach dem Eingriff war der Knabe ohne Rezidiv und ohne Metastasen.
Schlussfolgerung: Ein papilläres Nierenzellkarzinom im Kindesalter ist ungewöhnlich selten. Wird es frühzeitig erkannt, reicht die Nephrektomie zur Therapie aus.
