Dr. Burchiel has met the challenge of compiling a unique and concise collection on pain management for the neurosurgeon, both in this issue and the next.

Topics such as multidisciplinary pain management, drug therapy for chronic pain, complex regional pain syndromes, and pain following spinal cord injury (to name only a few) have never received a more up-to-date and thorough review. This collection will be cherished by those who are able to recieve it; for it may be some time before such manuscript quality and comprehensive review are ever attempted again.

We are truly fortunate to have this compendium for Seminars and appreciate the efforts of Dr. Burchiel and his contributors.
