Zusammenfassung
Impulsivität stellt ein Merkmal vieler psychiatrischer Störungen dar, wobei biologische, soziale, kognitive und motorische Dimensionen zu berücksichtigen sind. Eine zentrale Aufgabe des menschlichen Gehirns ist die Umsetzung emotionaler Reize in adäquates Verhalten. Willkürliches Verhalten besteht aus Handlungen, die sich wiederum aus Bewegungssequenzen zusammensetzen. Örtliche und zeitliche Strukturen dieser Bewegungen werden durch zentralnervöse Bewegungsprogramme bestimmt. Bei gesunden Kontrollen fand sich kein Zusammenhang zwischen Impulsivität und Dauer oder Geschwindigkeit von Reichbewegungen, jedoch ein signifikanter Zusammenhang mit der Verkürzung der relativen Zeit bis zur maximalen Geschwindigkeit der Reichbewegung. Bei einer Gruppe Patienten mit Borderline-Persönlichkeitsstörungen, die durch hohe Impulsivität charakterisiert sind, war diese Zeit signifikant kürzer als bei einer entsprechenden, gesunden Kontrollgruppe. Diese Befunde beruhen auf Veränderungen zentralnervöser Bewegungsprogramme und haben eine praktische Bedeutung für forensische, diagnostische und therapeutische Fragestellungen.
Summary
Impulsivity represents a central component of many psychiatric disorders and should be studied in regards to biological, social, cognitive, and motor dimensions. One of the most relevant functions of the human brain ist the processing of emotional stimuli into adequate actions. Voluntary behavior consists of goal oriented actions which are defined by a sequence of movements. Temporal and spatial structures of these movements are the result of cortical and subcortical movement programming. A significant correlation was found between the extend of impulsivity and the relative time to maximum velocity of reaching movements in healthy control subjects. In patients with Borderline-Personality Disorders, who are characterized by high impulsivity, the relative time to maximum velocity was significantly shorter compared to matched healty control subjects. These findings may be relevant for forensic, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects when treating patients with psychiatric disorders.
