Intimal Flap in a Common Carotid Artery in a Patient with Marfan’s Syndrome

Zusammenfassung

Die Dissektion der Arteria carotis communis ist eine seltene, aber wichtige Komplikation des Marfan-Syndroms. Im Folgenden wird der Fall einer Patientin mit asymptomatischem Intima-Flap der Arteria carotis communis beschrieben, die Jahre zuvor bereits eine Dissektion der Aorta thoracalis erlitten hatte.

Abstract

Dissection of the common carotid artery is a rare but important complication of Marfan’s syndrome. The following case describes a patient with formation of an intimal flap of the common carotid artery who had suffered from an aortic dissection years before.
