Publication History

Moise Levy, M.D.
This issue of Seminars in Plastic Surgery covers a variety of dermatological problems that should be of interest to surgeons. Our understanding of vascular birthmarks continues to evolve rapidly. Dr. Pocock and colleagues provide a brief, although very complete, review of the state of the art regarding the genetics of this complex field. Dr. Denise Metry's practical outline of her vast experience in managing hemangiomas will be of use to practitioners seeing such patients on a regular basis. Drs. Boyd, Hollier, and coauthors discuss the often controversial, although timely, issue of surgery for vascular skin lesions. Next, Drs. Russak and Dinulos provide an extensive review of pigmented lesions, followed by a review of nodular skin lesions seen in children by Drs. Fogelson and Dohil. Finally, Shannon McCord addresses wound care in general and targeted therapies for a wide variety of wounds. I hope this will prove to be a useful issue for the subscribers.
