Significance

Asymmetric nitrone cycloadditions provide products that can be further transformed to a host of biologically active compounds. Various catalysts currently exist, but with some limitations such as substrate scope, less mild reaction conditions, and lower exo/endo selectivities compared to the presented catalysts. The authors describe a catalytic system that produces, in many cases, only endo-selective products in high yields and enantioselectivities.
