Progressive Borrelia Encephalomyelitis (Lyme Disease) with CSF-Positive and Seronegative FindingsPublication History

Summary
Case report of a 39 year old male patient with the diagnosis of a progressive Borrelia encephalomyelitis (Lyme disease). In this case no unequivocal positive titre of antibodies against Borrelia b. was found and so diagnosis was only possible by the positive examination of the CSF. This patient is comparable with similar cases of neurosyphilis and requires, in the same way as in all cases of inflammatory disease of the central nervous system of uncertain origin, an examination of the CSF for Borrelia antibodies.
