Zusammenfassung

Als Folge einer traumatisch bedingten Milzexstirpation entwickelte sich nach einer Latenz von 16 Jahren eine foudroyant verlaufende Pneumokokkensepsis mit massiver Schädigung des Zentralnervensystems. Gesichtspunkte der Pathogenese und Präventivmaßnahmen werden diskutiert.

Summary

A fulminant pneumococcal sepsis occurred 16 years after posttraumatic splenectomy and caused massive lesions of the central nervous system. Pathomechanisms and prevention are discussed.
