Suizidversuch mit Valproinsäure

Zusammenfassung

Ein 19j ähriger Patient nahm in suizidaler Absicht 18 Gramm Na-Valproinat ein. Die nach Klinikaufnahme durchgeführte Serumspiegelbestimmung ergab 218,4 ?g/ ml Valproinsäure. In psychischer Hinsicht bestand initial eine Bewußtseinstrübung, neurologisch bestand zunächst eine leichte zerebelläre Ataxie. Diese Symptome bildeten sich rasch zurück. Im Differentialblutbild zeigte sich eine länger anhaltende Verschiebung. Die Literatur über Intoxikationen mit sehr hohen Val-proinsäure-Dosen wird kurz dargestellt.

Summary

A male patient (aged 19 years) made a suicide attempt by taking 18 g of sodium valproinate. On admission to hospital the blood level of valproic acid was 218.4µg/ml. In psychopathological respect there was initially a clouding of consciousness, neurologically a slight cerebellar ataxia. These symptoms decreased rapidly. The differential blood count presented slight changes lasting for months. The literature of intoxications with very high valproinate doses is briefly reviewed.
