Colostomies in Infancy and Childhood

Abstract

A retrospective review of 360 colostomies in infants and children at the Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street, is presented. The complications of formation and closure are described. Prolapse is still a considerable problem but in this series no death occurred due to formation or closure.

Zusammenfassung

Es wird retrospektiv eine Übersicht über 360 Kolostomien im Säuglings- und Kindesalter gegeben, die am Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street, angelegt wurden. Die Komplikationen bei Anlegung und Verschluß werden beschrieben. Der Prolaps ist immer noch ein beachtliches Problem. Es ereignete sich in dieser Serie kein Todesfall, weder bei der Anlegung noch beim Verschluß.
