Summary
Parameters of physicochemistry, way of application and strategy of dosage are essential for the effectiveness of iontophoresis, a topical application of drugs. Compressed series of therapy including repeated applications per day are limited by the concentration of salicylic acid solution (2 %), producing phenomena of skin irritation, not by iontophoresis application itself. One or two applications per day cannot be differentiated by determining the serum concentration of salicylic acid. In patients with a supraspinatus syndrome, the manual strength can be enhanced by one as well as by two applications per day.
