Pancreatitis Due to Cystic Duodenal Duplication in a 12-Year-Old Child

Abstract

Duodenal duplications are rare congenital anomalies which can present with pancreatitis. A precise preoperative diagnosis is rarely possible. We present a 12-year-old girl with relapsing pancreatitis in whom the diagnostic survey was initially inconclusive. Two years later abdominal ultrasound revealed a cyst near the head of pancreas. At laparotomy a cysto-duodenostomy was performed. The histology of the cyst wall was diagnostic.

Zusammenfassung

Duodenalduplikaturen sind seltene kongenitale Anomalien, die mit einer Pankreatitis einhergehen können. Eine präzise präoperative Diagnostik ist selten möglich. Wir präsentieren ein 12jähriges Mädchen mit rezidivierender Pankreatitis, bei dem die diagnostische Untersuchung zuerst keine Klarheit ergab. Zwei Jahre später zeigte die Ultraschalluntersuchung des Abdomens eine Zyste in der Nähe des Pankreaskopfes. Während der Laparotomie wurde eine Zystoduodenostomie durchgeführt. Die histologische Untersuchung der Zystenwand ergab eine Duodenalduplikatur.
