Introduction
Bone marrow changes in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) as well as bone marrow transformation after chemotherapy is well known. Corticosteroids and methotrexate (MTX) are considered to be the main factors for the reduction of bone mineral density after chemotherapy. Therefore, reduced height of vertebral bodies due to compression fractures has been reported after chemotherapy (Alos N et al. J ClinOncol 2012; 30: 2760–2767). However, swelling of vertebral bodies at diagnosis of ALL followed by vertebral height loss after treatment has not been reported until now.
